Portal
32" x 32" x 2"

All materials in this piece are original. This mirror is bordered by a single piece of deconstructed wooden printing block. This giant block was carved to print a portion of an ad by the application of one color. The panel was cut and applied to suggest an opening, or portal. It also resembles strongly the roof and sides of a covered bridge, beneath which are forms suggesting tunnels. The blending of black and yellow, the negative spaces, and the sculpted surface all glowing, or dark, or hovering forms.
