Shipping Room
35" x 35" x 2"

All wood and paints of this piece are original. A construction based on a odd shaped cabinet I found in a flea market. It had narrow drawers on the front, long sides, and nice old paint and labels. I reconstructed it with its gray side next to the drawer fronts. A French export label from the other side was moved to a new location and the entire cabinet was carefully mounted to appear flattened but undisturbed. This imposing assemblage represents a frozen moment in the shipping room of the old Hengerer’s department store in Buffalo, NY, a blend of old color, architecture, and history.
